Chicago Green

Green Is Good

About Me

Formed in early 2006 as a means of playing some damn good music, Chicago Green came onto the Chicago music scene hungry to play and perform live. Originally formed by guitarist Jon Gould and drummer Neal Daniels, the duo needed to find a slick bass player, offering the position to long time partner in crime, Max Benson. Although the trio worked well it was not until help was enlisted by Nick "J.J. Johnson" Eisner on guitar/keys/vocs that the band started to come together.
After a few shows and a lot of debate, vocalist/percussionist Josh Kapson was also added, completing an all-star line-up. With their release of their first EP titled Under a Cetain Influence, Chicago Green played high prestige shows such as opening for Les Claypool at the Rave in Milwaukee, WI, and headlining the annual Rock Against AIDS concert at Illinois State University for their release party.
The early live experience of Chicago Green attracted a lot of attention, and gained the group a lot of ground in the local music scene. Although the creative energy and vibe brought recognition on it's own, Chicago Green was intent on delivering a higher caliber of performance to the fans, and in realizing so, Josh Kapson left to pursue other musical interests.
As of 2008 Chicago Green has expanded it's fanbase, playing around Chicago at venues such as The Elbo Room, Mickey Finns, and The Heartland Cafe, while maintaining a regular showing at Reggie's Music Joint and Rock Club. Recently Chicago Green began work with The Belmont Sessions on showcasing top CG tunes for the fans in a recorded concert experience. Opting to further hone their live skills and peformance, Chicago Green has cleared all 2008 performances to search for a new singer, write new material, and emerge in 2009 focused, and ready to perform on a greater scale.
