Liverpool Beatles Convention 2007

About Me

In October 1982 Steve McDonald and Ian Murdoch set sail on a journey that would last a life time, and eventually see them realise some of their inner dreams and ambitions. Arriving in the seaport of...Liverpool..... was exciting and rewarding for these two Beatle fans from Dundee. Accompanied by fellow band members..Kenny Day..and ..Derek Hardie, this unit from Tayside would play their first Merseyside show, for none other than ..Sam Leach....performing at his ’’Beatlethon’’ on october 9th 1982 at the famous ..Iron Door Club....... welcome ’’Dead Ringer’’ The Band arrived in Mathew Street and headed to ’’Cavern Mecca’’ which was situated directly above ’’ Flanagans’’. Jim and Liz Hughes were the people that ran this shrine... to the greatest rock n roll band the world has ever known...it was truely a magical place..filled with very special people..and a very special atmosphere. Bursting with expectations, the lads persuaded the legendary ’’Bob Wooler ’’ to allow them to play a few songs for the people at the club that day...and so step one of their eternal love affair with the city of Liverpool..began.The Iron Door Club gig was hugely successful for the band...the capacity crowd were treated to Beatle gems stretching across the fab four’s career...in the audience.. Sam Leach..Bob Wooler..Allan Williams..and a number of Merseysides gifted and talented musicians. Appearing on that bill with’’ Dead Ringer’’...none other than ’’Mojo Filter’’...Liverpools hottest young band..and to this day ..Phil, Rick and Paul remain firm friends with Steve and Ian. ’’The Steady Sisters’’ Pam..Julie..Marie’’........ spread the word..and supported the band from the first note!...they too are part of the magic..of Liverpool.Towards the end of our first trip to Liverpool...we were asked by..’’Joe Flannery’’....... to turn up and play at a dockers pub..’’The Glen Dower’’ This was an experience that none of the band will ever forget!!! Remember the ...Socks......!! Now some 25 years on..the band ..’’Ringer’’..have appeared at the Liverpool Conventions every year..and indeed throughout the world....backing band to ’’Denny Laine’’ the ..Wings reunion in 1992...with’’ Neil Innes’’ at the Blue Coat... and this year with their old friend Mr Denny Laine....they are appearing at the Cavern Club ...for two shows..performing such great songs as ...Live and Let Die.. Band on the Run.. Say you don’t Mind .... Go Now...Jet and a host of other great songs from the Wings era.We send a great big thanks to our great friends at ’’ Cavern City Tours ’’....... Billy..Dave..George..Ray..Vicky..Ian.. life long friends and fellow time travellers...They are hugely responsable for ’’Keeping the dream Alive’’ To all our friends....fans...fellow musicians....that share our dream...and more impotantly...to John..Paul..George..and Ringo...we say..... thank you... ...for giving us....THE BEATLES.
