Merseyside / Wirral Indie-Rock 4 piece Resuss rose from the ashes of 'The Meds' in November 2007 with the band taking full flight in early 2008. This formation has gigged constantly around Merseyside and the North West and along with a 4 track EP has increased their loyal fan base. With their energetic and fun live shows they are real audience pleasers.
Jay Mantzoni is a seasoned pro and has lived and toured in the US with Heyday playing at famous venues like the Alligator Lounge on Sunset Strip and Sony Studios LA. Absolutely one of the best drummers in the North West he drives the songs with power and finesse.
Bassist Pete Cunningham is a songwriter and guitarist in his own right (www.myspace.com/cunningtunes). With Resuss he provides the solid attacking bass lines that define the groove of the songs. Pete writes most of the songs, with topics ranging from French actress lookalikes to American executions, misogynists to madness. All delivered in an upbeat, feel-good, melodic blast that rocks your socks off.
Si Garbutt has a unique sound that at once is distinguishable and searing. Tone, bite and clarity balanced with a harder edged, darker side. This is Si's first band and his guitar technique is becoming the sound of Resuss, rich with Bellamy-esqe refrains.
Londoner Mark Howe is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist who fronts the band with the London swagger and a grin that he has become renowned for. A huge presence and a huge voice, who commands the stage and respect from everyone. Eagerly engaging with the audience, his passion and vigour win them over every time and make each show a lively event
Live radio performances and airplay on both BBC and USA radio has raised their profile recently and with their new replacement drummer they are hitting the gig circuit again after a short lull. Playing with more confidence they are now attracting attention from record companies and promoters.
They have already played at Night & Day Cafe, Manchester, The Cavern and Zanzibar, Liverpool and have been voted best band at the Hesketh Bank Music Festival for the second year in a row.
2009/10 is set to be a huge year for the band as Jay has brought freshness and 'zing' to the band to energise and make their shows even bigger. Plans to record an EP at the end of the year are in place and great new songs have now been written. Resuss will be gigging their addictive, sing-along anthemic pop-punk rock at a venue near you soon!
