Hi - my name is Kurt Johnson and I am a professional drag racer. I compete in the Pro Stock division of the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) POWERade Drag Racing Series, driving the ACDelco Chevy Cobalt.

This is my 16th full season of driving, and so far I’ve scored 36 national event wins, which is fourth on the all-time Pro Stock winner’s list. I’ve also won at least one race a year for the last thirteen years, which is the longest active streak in Pro Stock, and second longest in the NHRA. Before I started driving, I worked on my father’s race car – you might have heard of him - Warren Johnson, The Professor of Pro Stock, a six-time champion and a Hall of Famer who is still racing. Although I started out as a teenager sweeping the floors and packing the truck, I have been our teams’ primary engine builder for many years.
On the personal side, I am 45 years old, born in Virginia, Minnesota, but now live in rural Buford, Georgia, which is about an hour north of downtown Atlanta, depending on traffic. When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my beautiful wife Kathy and my three kids, Conner, Erin and Jarrett. Although I’m on the road for about 30 weekends a year, I try to get to as many of their soccer or baseball games and other activities as possible. They also join me at a couple races every year.
Of course, one of the most important things to a racer is their sponsor, and I’ve been lucky to have automotive parts leader ACDelco as my primary sponsor since 1996. Make sure to ask for ACDelco parts the next time your car needs maintenance. Stop by acdelco.com to find an ACDelco service center in your area, and learn more about the ACDelco Racing team.
But the main purpose of this page is to give you a little insight into our team. Make sure to stop back frequently and see what’s new. Although we’re rookies at this, we’ll try to keep you updated on how we do at the track, as well as putting up some more pictures and other cool stuff. Add us to your friends list and tell us what you’d like to see. That’ll do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!
