Film, photography, really images of anykind, storytelling, learning, calculus (yeah, geek, there it is), the history of the universe, history in general (go TLC!), hanging with my dog, writing (mostly screenplays but I love it when I have time to write prose), scuba diving (my absolute favorite pasttime, you haven't lived until you've had a swim with Manta Rays in Hawaii).
I'm so boring when it comes to music, which means about 75% of the cool peeps on MySpace will have nothing to do with me. I couldn't name a current band, was recently hiking with Shirley from Garbage for an hour and had no idea who she was even after she told me, and probably haven't bought a CD in ten years. Downloading? Right! I listen to classical when I'm writing because lyrics are distracting, jazz to lift me up, and all my CD's are from the 80's! Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, U2 (stopped at the Joshua Tree), XTC, Billy Bragg, Springsteen (does he ever go out of sytle). To me, Nirvana is still a state of mind.
Old, new, classic, indie, blockbuster, anything really. I love sitting in a movie theater almost as much as I love being underwater. Last year was a great year, Capote, Good Night Good Luck, awesome. Watch The Great Escape again recently, how can you been McQueen?! Hero is one of my favorite, yeah it's Jet Li and it's beautiful. Godfather, Citizen Kane, The Shop Around the Corner, anything by Ridley Scott but especially Blade Runner and Alien, and "The Job" starring Daryl Hannah.
Tin Man on SciFi was very cool last night.
Don't get me stared. I read probably fifty books a year. Classics: Tale of Two Cities, Brother's Karamazov (especially The Grand Inquisitor), Lolita, Winds of War, Fountainhead, Mayor of Castorbridge,on and on. I read very little "NY Times Best sellers" which only seem to write down to the masses. Ian McEwan "Comfort of Strangers" is one of the most beautiful books ever written. I thought the DaVinci Code was incredibly good entertainment for fifth graders. Of course, my favorite book is "Apollo Main," written by ME. It's the "best Science Fiction book I ever read," (so says my 16 year old cousin, Brian). Check it out on Amazon.com. See the book cover on my Pics page.
Bill! I love Bill. As far as I'm concerned his biggest flaw is his taste in women. Stephen Biko, Steve McQueen, Jake Eberts, Chuck and Chuck (Dickens and Darwin), My Mom.
