Cold Joon
I recently recorded a great band called Cold Joon.
The sessions went great and we decided to post the rough mixes of the two songs
I had a great time working with Thomas and the other players on these songs.

COLD JOON, Tampa, Florida, USA

http://payplay.ca/artist/Cold+Joon
Cold Joon was formed in 1995 as a ‘Culture-Pop’ eclectic hybrid
that combined traditional West African percussion and dance with
pop,Caribbean flavors, and R&B.
The band has since released four studio albums.
* Crack! The Best of Cold Joon(2007)
* Urban Rhino (2006)
* Time to Go (2004)
* Gnu & Improovd (2003)
* Cold Djun (1995)
Led by Tom King, aka Cold Jr, Cold Joon has embraced a revolving and
evolving roster of musicians from three continents that, at one timeor another,
have come together to play live and/or record Cold Joon songs
- musicians like Senegalese djembe master Malick Sow,
American bass composer Ray Villadonga, Cuban percussionist Freddy Montes,
and many more .
* Hills and Valleys
* Buzz On
* 1726 Mali Empire
The band often performs with the Dundu Dole Urban African Ballet.
Live performances are more like experiences…featuring high energy fun,
dancers, costumes, and positive, conscious lyrics.
Cold Joon is a ‘one of a kind’ band with a unique and original vision
guaranteed to make you move … and think!

I have been making tracks since 1983 when I bought
my first 4 Track and Casio keyboard.
I play Guitar, Keyboards, Turntables, Drums/Sequencing, FX
I have used every recording media and sequencer from 4 track cassette,
MMT-8, 8,16,24 Track Reel to Reel,
ADAT, and finally hard disc recording and computers
I produce Hip Hop Tracks and Electronic Music
While most of my friends wanted to be Eddie Van Halen,
I wanted to be Eddie Kramer. From the time I knew what
a record producer was I wanted to be one. I read books
and magazines on recording technique and LISTENED
to thousands of records examining the SOUNDS on them.
I love early Motown, Chess, Arista, Asylum, Buddah,
records by The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis,
Pink Floyd, I grew to love music by Tangerine Dream,
Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, Can, Eno, Coil, Industrial, House,
Hip Hop, Techno, Drum and Bass, Electro, Goth.....
Around 1992 I got heavy into Dj'ing
spinning a mix of ambient, techno, trance, and drum and bass
along with my own music. I would bring keyboards, two drum machines
a sampler and a sequencer along with two to four turntables
remixing on the fly for marathon sets of over 18 hours on more than one occasion. Dj'ing in that manner is just now becoming popular
with the current crop of Dj's like James Zabiela. I recently starting using Abelton Live to streamline things
I have mixes at
Xstreamist

As many of you know I shut down the ghetto studio at Lake and 29
business was slow and a bit wild. I had too many people
coming in to goof off and party and not enough doing real work
and finishing projects. I am back working at my old studio
Black Widow Studios now called "Radiograph".
My music partner Robert Kildoo and I recently recorded
a song for Ska band Cold Joon
The song is called "Crack"
The song Rocks!!!
Our thanks to them for doing such a fantastic job
i post some tracks at soundclick
listen to "what's going on"
Coop's CD is finished now
it is a full length disc with all original musicwe called it "The Come Up 2"
I wrote all of the music,
Coop wrote all of the words.
They are first takes on the vocals for the most part.
The songs in the playlist
are some of the new tracks
I composed with Coop.
We were going for a VERY different type of album
that could ring with an older crowd.
Friday June 16, 2006, for Tupac Shakurs'
Birthday, I decided to open my studio
for free and release a CD of the top of the crop.
From 9:30 in the morning till 11:30 at night
I had rappers backed up as much as 10 deep
waiting to get in the booth to show off their rhyme
skills. No one who came complained about waiting
for their turn in the booth. In the spirit of the moment
everyone kept a cloud of smoke pouring out the door
everytime someone new came in. Bottles were drained
of their contents while listening to someone spit the next underground hit.
I want to thank everyone who came
and made the day a success.
