I've had this page since 2007 and just blew it up this week (10/2009) messing with a music player. DOH! But I am not the same person I was in 2007, so I'll tell you a little about who I am today.
I am a roller coaster freak. I love playing Pente and having coffee with friends. I am abnormally in love with my dog (a white Canaan mix with an unfortunate name)--go look at her pix, you'll see why! I enjoy trying new restaurants (and am the founder of the Jackson Lesbo Supper Club-haha). I have a strange obsession with flashlights, esp. really tiny ones. I am fascinated by solar power. I live in the South and I only wore sandals for the very first time THIS YEAR because I have a phobia about feet! My maternal grandmother was my favourite person EVER. I almost wish I believed in heaven so I could be with her again.
For 28 years I was a hopeless drunk. Finally I realized I am a real alcoholic. I don't drink anymore and life is great! I go in and out on quitting cigarettes--nobody's perfect. I'm also addicted to Diet Rite Pure Zero cola (which means they will probably stop making it as soon as they find out)! Check out my "sobriety track" photos and watch a person progress from drunk to sober!
I'm a natural born, cradle to the grave, lesbian. Not that it matters, because I truly enjoy celibacy. Not sure exactly when I chose this as a way of life but it really seems to suit me and I've been practicing it for YEARS. A lot of people think I'm crazy for this. But there are certainly a lot fewer headaches, screaming fits, drunken binges, and assault charges! lol Not to say I won't ever fall in love again...stranger things have happened for sure! (Like me not drinking! Hoodathunkit?)
Some of my favourite things are: People who make me laugh, think, or engage in strong healthy debate. DOGS. Indoor plumbing. Cool weather. Thrill rides. Board games. Nature (no matter what She's doing--storming or scorching). AA conventions. Sleeping and dreaming! Writing. Paying bills (yes, strange but true). And I love buying little "happys" for people! I also love freeware, mixing CDs, and photo manipulation software. I have a large movie collection and can watch them hour after hour.
I appreciate integrity and forthrightness in people. I don't believe in yelling or holding grudges. I hate to sweat (definitely born in the wrong part of the country)! I really want another motorcycle and a house with a pool. I believe there is ALWAYS hope...when a person is willing to work for change. I believe little annoyances should be shrugged off in favour of truly living this moment, which is all we ever really have. I believe we should all find the Eternal Spirit by the path in our hearts--all rivers lead to the ocean. I love and respect the dirt poor. Greed, politics, noise pollution, and deforestation really bother me. I try to avoid watching the news. I do not believe in living life in fear--I walk my dog in the dark. I love thunder and lightning storms (even when camping in a tent). I believe some arguments can never be won by either side. I hate so-called "reality TV". I have found that in our smallest moments we can always be of use to another human being, even if it is only as a sincere listener. For me, healthy goals are vital to happiness. I released a book in 2000 but it wasn't promoted and never made any money--was a lark though!
I talk to strangers in grocery lines. I have never been able to force myself to eat grits. Or "slaw"--what kind of word is that anyway? Every time I'm in a drugstore, at least one person asks me, "Do you work here?" I don't, but I always try to help them find stuff. I love old people. My sister says I have everything a person could ever need in the trunk of my car. People who know me insist I have a male brain. I watch documentaries when I don't have to. My worst subjects in school were geography, history, and math. My best were literature, English, and science. I still like to diagram sentences for fun and I think euglenas are cool! I always go the wrong direction when I leave a store in the mall. My "totem" is the Earthworm. I have a lot of respect for people in so-called "menial" jobs! I'd like to see the Aurorea Borealis in Alaska before I die.
