A True “Honky Tonker†with a Willie Nelson outlook on life –
“Have fun and It will comeâ€â€¦Sam Glass is more than a singer/songwriter. He is an entertainer that pours his heart and soul into every performance. Raised in LaPorte, TX on Galveston Bay, Sam was drenched in the waves of music that Texas is famous for creating.
It was not until his tour of duty in the Armed Forces the idea of pursuing a musical career became clear. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Sam became the lead singer of the “Lonestar Country Blues Band†and toured extensively with the USO performing to thousands of American Troops. After his honorable discharge, Sam followed the advice of friends, shocked his family and moved to Nashville, TN. Paying dues was all he could afford, performing anywhere, anytime, fine tuning his talent and hoping for a break. Eighteen months later, it was time for a change. Sam realized that the Nashville music industry at that time was leaning more to the traditional side. It was not that Sam didn’t love & appreciate this style of music, it was just Sam knew in his heart he had to separate himself from the pack and create something unique. To Sam, imitating the artists that influenced him was not an option.
Sam said goodbye to Nashville and hello “Flora-Bama Lounge.†Located where the FL/AL state lines meet the Gulf of Mexico, this five star honky tonk soon produced results and became a second home for Sam. With the support and advice of music industry legends that had long embraced the “Flora-Bama†for its creative atmosphere, Sam’s determination for success only became stronger. It was the first time Sam had the freedom to perform and interpret music the way he felt best portrayed his style-
“Rockin’ Country Blues with a Big Funky Groove.†For three years, Sam Glass and his “Diamond Cutter Band†performed to what Sam considers to be some of the best crowds in America. They not only allowed him to “push the envelope†and “break some rules,†they demanded it! To Sam, life could not have been any better.
Still maintaining ties to Nashville, Sam auditioned for TNN’s “Music City Tonight†show with Crook and Chase and became a regular performer on the ‘live’ TV show sharing the stage with industry giants like Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Travis Tritt and Lee Roy Parnell.
Currently Sam lives outside of Nashville with his wife of eleven years, Faye, and their seven year old daughter, Quinn.
The past year Sam has been working in the studio with producer, Jim Riley, renowned drummer for mega band, “Rascal Flatts†preparing for the release of his latest CD, an explosive combination of emotion, lyrics and superior musicianship that has a multi-genre’ appeal.
