Action Replay Reviews (by Steven Hudyba, BBC Journalist):
March 20th 2008, The Rainbow, Birmingham:
Their sound is melodic-rock, and while it’s an instantly accessible noise, they bring in some good ideas to give their music some real depth. Well-written songs with solid, emotionally charged lyrics and some excellent guitar work, all combining to create an intense, brooding atmosphere and setting a high standard for the other bands to follow. Aimee gave a strong vocal performance; she’s got a voice like a cross between PJ Harvey and Kate Jackson (Long Blondes). It’s a powerful off-beat vocal that really works with their compelling direction.
May 29th 2008, The Custard Factory, Birmingham:
The first band of the evening was Birmingham four-piece Action Replay. After a standout effort at The Rainbow, expectations were high for their second stage performance and they did not disappoint. Beautifully crafted songs with a real Rock-kick, their tracks give Aimee the chance to show off her impressive vocal ability, with some first-rate guitar work and sharp percussion from the rest of the band tying it all together nicely. Aimee makes an excellent front-woman, polite, engaging and modest between tracks, when the music starts she has a stage presence well beyond her years and has one of the most interesting female vocals in this year’s festival.
