Abbie’s journey is not your typical I want to be a pop star journey. From a very early age Abbie found herself drawn to study why things worked the way they worked in the music industry. During her summer visits back home to Spain, she would be glued to a TV monitor watching countless performance tapes ranging from multi-platinum hit makers to old school and underground talent. While the other kids were outside playing, Abbie was inside developing a keen insight into how stars were made and how the exceptional ones stayed on top.
It would not be till be till the summer of 2001 that Abbie’s hunger for the inside scoop would turn into her own musical pursuit. During MTV’s summer segments in the Keys at that time, Abbie would walk for miles in the scorching heat to get to production sites where filming was taking place. Now while it was nothing new for young girls to be on those production sets, it was something unique to have one of those young ladies more interested in how the shots and imaging was being done more than meeting a famous teen idol. According to Abbie:
" I remember I was in 8th grade and I would get out of school around 2:30, and walk for miles, just to sit in the audience and observe what life was really like "behind the scenes", you know... without all the cover-ups and dress-ups. I wanted the raw product. and so.. it became part of my daily routine. it got to the point that my entire back, arms, and thighs were covered in blisters, from sitting in the sun for countless hours. but that wasnt my main concern. I was there out of passion for what I felt was meant for me, not for the celebrity presence.
While self-promoting, and with the support of her mother Eva, Abbie weathered doors being shut, skeptics and even wanna be production companies. Still none of those temporary delays broke Abbie’s spirit or dream of becoming a full time recording artist. and her hard work, talent (and study of the industry) eventually paid off. Abbie landed herself a one on one meeting with Capital Records. Where at the label’s request Abbie sought out (and found) a hot production team and innovative artists representation to continue this latest chapter in her journey of dealing with not only major labels but indie ones as well. Now while signing with a major or savvy indie label is still a matter yet to be determined, the fact that she will live her dream as a full time recording artist is a matter of fact and fate. Abbie Knights is an artist whose time has finally come.
