Fresh and crisp to the ear, FARAI possesses both a musical sound and talent that is incomparable to none. Distinguished by it’s unique blend of melodies, FARAI'S music offers his listeners a truly unforgettable and mesmerizing experience. Originating from the beautiful island of Jamaica, his flavorful array of music is as diverse as his African ancestry intertwined with British influence mixed with an American sound, producing the best rhythms in reggae dance tunes and sexy R&B ballads. His passion is paralleled only by his talent as an actor and a musician.
As a youth growing up in Jamaica, FARAI discovered his musical genes while singing the melodies of international reggae singer, Jacob Miller. Several of the artists who he found the most inspirational, were Curtis Mayfield, Smokey Robinson, Bob Marley, and Beres Hammond. Later on, FARAI developed a deep appreciation for the music of Garnett Silk and Luther Vandross. Subsequent to leaving Jamaica, FARAI worked with MCA Records. It was this collaboration that officially marked the beginning of his career as a musical artist.
Reflecting on his artistic endeavors, FARAI has headlined events with Millie Jackson at the Apollo Theater in New York, and Maxi Priest in Honolulu, Hawaii. Additionally, he has served as the opening acts for Kenny Lattimore and Jagged Edge at Webster Hall, and I Wayne at S.O.B.S, New York's premier venues for world music and entertainment. While working alongside Producers Paul(GrooveGalore)KasticK (Maxi Priest,Shaggy,Diana King,Big Mountain,Tanya Stephens,Leon & The Peoples) & Norris(Noriega) Webb (Diana King,Toots, SuperCat,City Heat) of "GrooveGalore Productions." His recent works are "Careless Whisper" (first official single w/video released by NativeXamaycan MuziK/GrooveGalore Productions; originally done by Wham). His originals include, "Come Again(Black King)â€, "Don't Falter" and "Rastafari Chanting". He also has a collaboration with Sizzla & Fame titled "Don't Let Go".
A real musical phenomenon. He has, is, and always will breathe, think, and be music. A highlight of his professional career, has been him being a recipient of the prestigious, "Best Male Vocalist", award at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA/Worldstars) Festival in Burbank, California, competing against representatives from 42 countries. Currently, FARAI has embarked upon a new movie project as co-producer and score director, in the psychological thriller, "The Book." This serves as a continuation of his earlier on screen experience which included working on the motion picture, Anger Management(starring Jack Nicholson & Adam Sandler). Farai has also appeared as a featured act, on Jamaica's 2006 "Reggae Sun Splash". He was chosen to close the show on the night of his performance; which ended up being emotionally and literally a show stopper.
In such a relentless and unforgiving industry, FARAI'S spirituality and family support has proven to enhance his creativity and sense of virtue. His generosity and compassion are testimonial of his willingness to share his gift, by volunteering in various nonprofit and youth organizations. Community and youth development are two of FARAI'S most important commitments; as he endeavors to make an invaluable contribution to the global society.
