Rondor Music

About Me

Almo/Irving music was founded in 1962 by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss as the original domestic publishing arm of their newly formed A&M records. In 1966, the company, with only 200 copyrights, began to reach out for new songs and writers. In 2000 Rondor music was aquired by Universal music corporation and became part of the universal music publishing group family. As a measure of the company's success, Rondor songs have captured a number of Grammy awards over the years. Best song awards include From A Distance, written by Julie Gold and sung by bette Midler, and Tears In Heaven, written by Will Jennings and Eric Clapton. We have expanded our range of titles through the acquisition of other major catalogues, including the Beach Boys "Sea of Tunes", the Stax-era East Memphis music catalogue and the Shelter Music Catalogue, featuring the music of Tom Petty, Leon Russell, and Phoebe Snow. Rondor has continued to enhance the value of these musical sources by cultivating new outlets and new recording opportunities with major artists. More recently Rondor music has signed songwriters Avril Lavigne, Mika, Garbage, Trakstarz, Twista, Kwame, and Sly Jordan. Rondor's Emphasis on signing talented writers, paying attention to quality songs, and providing a safe, stable and creative enviornment for its artist's remains unique and unparalleled in the music publishing industry. This commitment to quality ensures the continued growth and artistic integrity of rondor music into the 21st century.
