Something like that might come to mind, if one ever had the pleasure to witness Gregor Kempf at the decks, being in his element.
In the early nienties he started moving to the music, which would later become
his trademark style.
Countless nights spend in well-known clubs like
Paramount Park, the already legendary Dorian Gray and of course the U60311, OUTLAND (clubs known nationally as well as internationally as a synonym for electronic clubmusic.
These experiences casted a spell on him, with effects that are still noticeable today.
At the latest after Gregor Kempf had the pleasure of meeting masters at their craft like Sven Väth, Josh Wink, Terence Fixmer, Richie Hawtin, Dj Hell and Green Velvet, beats and sounds were born in his mind, and had to find their way out to the public.
So there was simply no choice other than buying his own equipement in 2001 and finally being able to live out, what seems destined for people like him.
After musical experiments, and a vast record collection, spanning from Clubhouse all the way to Electro-Techno, he finally found his musical direction in the vein of electronic, bleepy, sprouting music.
In 2005 Gregor Kempf and a colleague founded Incognito AG, moving crowds at U60311, the Subliminal Lounge (Aschaffenburg), Klangbar (Nieder-Roden) and various bars in Hesse.
In the end of 2006 the one-year celebration sadly also marked the end of Incognito AG, after a decision to follow separate paths from now on.
Gregor Kempf was represented by Intakt Musik and continued to spin at exquisite Open-Air-Events such as Waldgeflüster and Klang und Liebe, as well as playing at Vinylbar (Frankfurt), Klangbar (Nieder-Roden) and Kassematte (Mainz), where his unique mixture of beats and sounds brought the crowds to boiling point.
With all doors now wide open to him, 2008 will be a year full of challenges and opportunities for a man with his talents, and it will definitely be rewarding to lend your ear to what will be coming up.
