ukbluegrass aims to promote tours, gigs, festivals, jam sessions and other events and help those who wish to find out more about the British bluegrass scene.
Through our forum we hope to establish an online community of pickers and fans of the music, so that people can keep in touch or find out about other bluegrassers in their area.
We also plan to feature monthly articles focusing on musicians, events and other topics of interest to bluegrass fans. So far these have included interviews with the likes of Leon Hunt, The Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys, John Dowling, Greg Cahill, The Infamous Stringdusters, Noam Pikelny and Ben Winship, plus coverage of Sore Fingers Summer Schools, The House of Plank and Bluegrass College.
We will be showcasing British bluegrass talent using the music section of this page. The tunes playing currently are:
Turrets by The Fire Buckets - this tune was performed at Sore Fingers 2007. The band was comprised of some of the most talented bluegrass musicians in the country, none of whom are older than 18. They play in various other groups such as Blue South and Miles Apart. Check them out in our friends below.
Travelling Man by Papa Truck - This is a new South Bucks-based bluegrass band, writing and playing original songs and some old classics with an upbeat, modern style. Their new album is available to buy now. Visit their myspace to find out how to get a copy.
Carolina Calling by The Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys - This band have been around a few short years but are already firmly established as festival favourites. They sing fine harmonies, write great songs, and put on an amazingly entertaining live show.
