Monsters From The Id

About Me

Hiya! We make music and enjoy it. We grind our teeth and spill our guts. It's all music, music, music. Not to be confused with lifestyles, fashion statements, the entertainment business or marketing strategies. We do what we do, and let happen what happens. No afterthoughts.
We laugh and we're serious. We laugh about being serious. And we're serious about laughing.
Kristof is King DJ is 4T4 from 't Hof van Commerce and Ultrasonic (7). Mirko plays bass with Arno, Arsenal, Tom Pintens,... Thomas plays guitar in Gorki, and has played for Raymond VHG, Stijn, Arno... He has a band called Helsinki and is 50% of Garage Sauvage.
As for what the name of the band means and where it comes from:
"Monsters, John! Monsters from the Id!"
"Invisible creatures from the subconscious!"
From "Forbidden Planet", a 1956 science fiction film by Fred Wilcox and a subsequent novelization by W.J. Stuart, about a spaceship exploration of a planet once inhabited by a race called "The Krell", a civilization lightyears ahead of humans. Though the Krell were highly civilized, their subconscious minds were unleashed by the almost limitless power of the Machine, a device that would create by mere thought of the Krell. The race was wiped out in a single night of frenzied destruction, as the machine acted out their darkest urges.
In psychodynamics, the Id, Ego, and Super-Ego are the divisions of the psyche according to psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud's "structural theory." In his 1923 work The Ego and the Id, Freud introduced new terms to describe the division between the conscious and unconscious: 'id,' 'ego,' and 'super-ego.' He thought these terms offered a more compelling description of the dynamic relations between the conscious and the unconscious. The “id” (fully unconscious) contains the drives and those things repressed by consciousness.
"It's an obsolete term, once used to describe the elementary basis of the subconscious mind. The Beast, the mindless primitive..."
