Hi everyone, welcome to my spot on the web. My name's Vanessa James and i work as a freelance motion picture composer/musician.
FILM/TV COMPOSER
I have been working as a composer for films & TV since 2004. I've a degree in music composition and have written a mixture of features, short films, adverts and documentaries in a wide variety of styles and for many companies, including Sony and ENG. Some have been shown at Cannes film festival (07/08) and Rotterdam (08).
FILM MUSIC CONFERENCE
I help run the Film Music Conference at The National Media Museum. Previous guests have been David Arnold (James Bond, Independance day), Trevor Jones (Notting Hill), Michael Nyman (The Piano), and Patrick Doyle (Harry potter, Bridget Jones) Come along next March (watch this space for details) or if you're a film composer and can offer your skills/knowledge then it'd be great to hear from you!
MUSICIAN
I write and play synths/keyboards in 4 bands. The orchestral rock band 'Starling' (www.myspace.com/starlingsings), The loud 'RPM' (new album on www.myspace.com/rpmlive), MS touring band, and the house band at the Abundant Life Church (www.alm.org.uk). We've released 9 albums, and done worldwide tours.
