SWPE

SWPE was created from SWP which was created froms GIMPs, back in early 2007. I wanted to share rock music of all genres, from the South West with other people from the South West, hopefully filling up venues and creating a lot of publiciy for the South West music scene. After holding a competition to establish a name for the e-zine back in March, GIMPs (Gigs In Magic Places) came out most popular. Shortly, however, people started to complain that the title suggested it was something else, which I will not go into. So a second com petition was held, this time SWE coming out on top and remained the title, until I became a promoter. I now have three MySpace accounts (the SWE account will be deleted shortly, leaving two) the other being a site for bands and venues only. My first gig promotion was a charity gig being held to raise money for Cavitron (South West Neurosurgery in Derriford) and raise £240. The bands who played that night were Molotov, Taking the View, Veil Cassini, Wishlist and Drawn On Empty Faces. So now SWP is slowly growing and I hope to one day make it a big label by putting on gigs where the rock scene has to yet to be established. My first target is my home town of Exmouth, so please join me in spreaing the sound and coming to see a few of the gigs I put on.
