Music style: Nu jazz, Broken beat, Funk, Cuban & Latin, Techhouse and Deephouse.
Dj Moodfood started spinning records after a workshop beatmixing in 2003. Instead of dancing in front of the turntables she made a switch by taking place behind the turntables and mixing her favourite records. With her lifetime fascination for music this was a logical step. From the end of 2005 she started playing more or less frequently.
In 2007 the Moodfood label was created, resulting in the ideal opportunity to combine freelance graphic (web)design activities together with dj’ng in one name. On both fields she started cooperating with Bongomatik: creating the graphic design for the band and their website, and being linked to them as a DJ. Their first gig together was at North Sea 'Round Town in Rotterdam. North Sea Round Town was also the start of some, more or less, nu-jazzy/ cuban-latin styled sets from DJ Moodfood. 2008 started with a great latin-funky party in Jazz Café Dizzy. More festivals followed: Red Sounds, Blender festival, Camping Rotterdam, Jazz in Duketown, Jazz International and ARTI09.
She loves the fusion of playing with live musicians: Maite Hontelé on trumpet, Maarten Meddens (Monsieur Dubois) on Fender Rhodes, George Pancraz on trombone and Bongomatik of course!
Besides all that jazzy/jazzdance stuff she also loves to play techhouse and deephouse. In this style of music her mixing-skills and passion for dance become one. She cooperates with Eigenwijs produkties (Bootleg DJ café, IEZ@FFWD Parade, De Karavaan,...) and with dj IvanMark @ Mecca.
