Sebunjo Joel is a master multi-instrumentalist and vocalist born in Uganda, but raised in Africa to the sounds of roots and cultured vibes stretching from the lowly plains of the casamance in southern Senegal ,through the niger-nile delta to the folded lands of Eastern Africa. He has been described as a jack of all instruments and styles, avirtue highlighted in music .Though well rooted in his tradition, his music contours reflect the diversity of his music journey that saw him come in contact with genres such as Mbalax, Malian Blues,Ndaga,salasa,Rhai to mention but a few. Sebunjo has studied kora with Manding greats such as Alagi Mbye and Jalibah Kouyateh in the Gambia.Actually it is Alagi Mbye that introduced him to this titanic treasure-the Kora and its repertoire.At the moment, Sebunjo is one of the very few exponents of Djeli music cultures,particularly, kora in subsaharan Africa. Though still a young man, his vocal and sylisitic prowess has been much linked to Samite, Salif keita, Yossou Ndour, Ismael Lo and Ba Cissoko. The journey for one of Uganda's youngest world music icons will not stop now.Sebunjo is available to participate in music projects world wide.
