My full name is Thomas Cruise Mapother IV. I was born on July 3rd, 1962 (It was a Tuesday) in Syracuse, New York, USA. One of the first things people ask me is "Is this really Tom Cruise?" and my answer to that is of course it is, and if you don't believe oh well what can I do. My father Thomas Cruise Mapother III. My mother is is Mary Lee Mapother. I have three sisters and they are Marian, Lee Anne, and Cass. Little do people know that I grew up into poor family that frequently moved while my father searched for work. Ever since I was little though I've enjoyed many sports. Unfortunately I suffered a knee injury that snuffed out any athletic possibilities. Before I became an actor I spent a year in a Franciscan monastery and considered becoming a priest. But after appearing in a few high school plays, I realized where my true calling lay. I set aside a maximum limit of ten years to build an acting career and headed off to New York to begin my quest. Impoverished and barely scraping by, I started my assent towards super stardom. Much of the early 1980's were spent on forgettable teen flicks that did little to enhance my career. However, with keen business sense I managed to reinvent myself in Hollywood. By the mid 80's I was starred in some of the top grossing films including "Top Gun," "The Color of Money," "Rain Man," and "The Fourth of July"(receiving an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe Award) I became one of the highest paid actors in the world by 1990. I even got paid $15 million a picture in blockbuster hits "Interview with the Vampire," "Mission: Impossible," and "Jerry Maguire" (which received another Oscar nomination). Other productions I've been in are "Magnolia" which garnered me with a Golden Globe Award and an yet another Academy Award nomination. I was originally supposed to have a cameo role in the flick but it ballooned into 45 minutes of the 3 hour movie. But I was eager to join the cast of "Magnolia" that I took a pay cut to be part of the budgeted $30 million movie. I consider myself a kind and thoughtful man who is well known for his generosity and compassion. I'm divorced to Mimi Rogers and actress Nicole Kidman we share 2 adopted children. There names are Isabella Jane Kidman Cruise and Connor Anthony Kidman Cruise. After Nicole and I got divorced I started dating Penelope Cruz but we've since broken up and now I'm happily engaged to the wonderful Katie Holmes!
