I don’t retain stuff well enough to have all time favorites…I’ve spent the last year reading through the Overlook Film Encyclopedia series (one each on Gangster, Sci-Fi, Horror, and Western films) plus the Slings and Arrows Comic Book Encyclopedia (yeah, I like comics…), so those have been interesting to read for critical commentary. Other encyclopedia like books on music, tv, sports are always must reads for me.As far as fiction goes -- recently I’ve been reading books by Harlen Coben and Greg Rucka. Fun, disposable fiction. I also enjoy historical fiction – The Killer Angels/Gods and Generals civil war stuff is good by Michael/Jeff Shaara. I like sports books too – Moneyball was good, as was The Last Season.Since I like comics I suppose I should throw in Watchmen, Queen and Country, and most anything by Grant Morrison as my personal favorites.
Robert Denby - because he is so illusive!
