Drums and Circuits

About Me

Drums and Circuits is a collaboration between Brian Knoth and a revolving door of drummers/percussionists and other musicians. The musical partnerships are based on a shared appreciation for poly-rhythmic foundations, live electronics, ambient imagery and improvisation. Live recorded studio material is warped in post-production to inspire new ideas -- re-mixed material provides new foundations for performances. Knoth and company are currently working on an album entitled "I am a Strange Loop" which is in post-production. The tracks on this myspace page are some works in progress (rough mixes) from this project.
Brian Knoth is a media artist, interactive systems designer and musician specializing in experimental sound art/music, moving image and new interfaces. His music is distributed/represented by CD-Baby and BeatPick*, a “fair play” music label (*as a contributing composer/producer/engineer with Minimalist Orchestra). He also produces and engineers music (distributed by ITunes etc.), while continuing to provide sound design and score material for award winning independent films. As an instrumentalist he spent 2002-2005 performing live (guitar and lap-top sampling/synthesis) throughout New England and the East Coast with Nikulydin (now Psylab), an improvisational electronic music and multimedia collective. Before that he played with numerous Boston-based groups between 1999-2002. He is currently composing and performing experimental electro-acoustic music (guitar/computer/electronics) and visuals on his own and collaboratively with Drums and Circuits, Broken Victrola w/Ed Guild (of Psylab), and Minimalist Orchestra.
