About Me

I feel that you should know something about me in order to give you a clear view on what I believe in, and thus, where I may be bais. Though, I do pride myself on being open-minded and a reasonable, rational, logical thinker. I try to see everything through different perspectives.
I am a 24 year old (North) American. I was born and raised in the United States. My family immigrated to the United States at least over a century ago. Why am I telling you this? So, that you don't automatically try to discount what I say because of who I may be. And immigration is a hot topic right now, getting a lot of controversy.
I also have an English degree with a minor in sociology from the University of Texas in Austin. I am Pro-Choice. I am hetrosexual. I am married. I also believe that a person's sexual orientation is like a person's race, ethnicity, or age; just a characteristic that should not be taken into account when deciding on legal rights, liberties, protections, or benefits. So, yes, I believe that homosexuals should be allowed the same martial benefits under the law (and thus the right to marry).
I am not sure where I stand on the Death Penalty. Generally speaking, I am againist it. However, this view isn't one of certainty. For example, I lean towards pro-Death Penalty in cases of mass murder or serial killings.

I also do not have a clearly defined stance on the enviroment or Global Warming. I have read several articles, studies, and books on Global Warming and have discovered there is plenty of evidence on both sides.

Why did I start this page? To try to enlighted other typical Americans to what our government is doing.
I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I believe our forefathers got it right. And because of that, I am a firm believer that it is our DUTY as Americans, to not only question our government, but to hold it responsible for its actions.
I believe that our government is corrupt. I believe that two types of people go into politics: the corrupt or the naïve. The naïve either become corrupt because they learn that is the only way to get things done (i.e., that's how the game is played) or they don't last long either because they become disgusted by how the government really works or because they can't get anything done and are in turn voted out of office.
I am one of the naïve who thinks that one person can make a difference.

Only our individual faith in freedom can keep us free. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower ~

Freedom is the last, best hope of earth. ~ Abraham Lincoln ~

Freedom of opinion can only exist when the government thinks itself secure. ~ Bertrand Russell ~

Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master! ~ Thomas Jefferson ~

It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds. ~ Samuel Adams ~

The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse. ~ James Madison ~

One man with courage is a majority. ~ Thomas Jefferson ~

Our citizens may be deceived for awhile, and have been deceived; but as long as the presses can be protected, we may trust to them for light. ~ Thomas Jefferson ~

Our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty. ~ Samuel Adams ~

When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil. ~ Thomas Jefferson ~
