Ian Turner

About Me

Originally from Woodstock NY, young Turner moved around throughout his childhood with his mother and sister. Yes, he was what you might call a sensitive little girly boy. As age descended upon him, he grew into some level of acceptance with masculinity, and according to friend Ben Fleisher, eventually became 'the most masculine feminine man I know.' If one were looking for faults in the talented Mr. Turner, they wouldn't have to look too far. Those who know him well can attest to his unusually long list of peculiar patterns of behavior . Although he purportedly has a 'very loving, non-judgmental nature', and in my eyes is arguably the penultimate romantic of the twenty-first century, he is unfortunately developing a reputation for his wild mood swings. He, himself has assured me that if he ever set foot in a doctor's office they would declare him manic-depressive and do their best to wipe all colour from his emotional pallet... His music consistently pushes the boundaries of pop-harmony, while also commenting on an expansive range of musical traditions, placing it in a rare category of genre-defiant original art.His lyrics in their best moments are both profound and sarcastic, with topics ranging from quirky forlorn love to apocalyptic revelry. The combination of elliptical style and humorous tone give his songs a longer shelf life than your typical pop ditty, and you would be hard pressed to find a vital young college student who could resist his call to strip off their clothes and run through the woods...From 'music for the post-modern present' -Vivian Zontkova, Velvet Arts Press 2006
