The Winnebago Orchestra Mk 1

About Me

This MySpace page is dedicated to the original Winnebago Orchestra line up, the guys that started the thing, Andy P. Davies and Spencer G. Roberts. Born in the 60's - Kids in the 70's - Indie in the 80's - watching the 90's go by... in a HAZE! They formed the Winnebago Orchestra in the noughties. 2001 to be exact. Acclaimed singer songwriter Davies and good friend multi instrumentalist Roberts joined up together with a love of The Faces, Wire, Tom Waits, Felt, Ivor Cutler, The Pogues, Josef K, The Television Personalities, Another Sunny Day and many others. The Winnebago Orchestra represented the first attempt at literate Black Country Pop. The chaps released 3 e.p.'s one of which was a covers e.p. entitled Homage Frais, (you can hear two of the songs above, namely The Nips' Gabrielle and The Blue Aeroplanes track, Warhol's 15), and two albums on their own Oporto Records label. Davies temporarily left The Winnebago Orchestra in 2006 to re-ignite his Garage Band The Cudgels, and a solo project 'Andus'. Whilst Roberts, carried the flame with the current Winnebago Orchestra line-up featuring acclaimed songwriter and poet Caroline Trettine (ex- Blue Aeroplanes) currently signed to Tuition Records of Germany, having released one album - 'Fifteen' in 2006 (featuring Davies) and with another one 'Born in the sun' on the way in October 2007. Spencer Roberts continues to drum with Rockingham and will be collaborating with Jules Gray and Andus later this year. Live shows are likely for The Winnebago Orchestra later in 2007 with Mr Davies back in the fray... Watch this space...

My Blog

Out takes and general nonsense...

From time to time we'll be posting recordings that were 'spur of the moment', rough around the edge demos and such like, stuff that should really never see the light of day and all for your listening ...
