Ellen Chandler was born in Wooster, Ohio, but has lived in Temple Terrace, Florida most of her 21 years. She is currently a student at the University of South Florida, where she is a fourth-year Early Childhood Education major. Ellen was first exposed to jazz through her dad, who loves jazz ballads. He introduced her to the music of several jazz divas, including Diana Krall, Karrin Allyson and Ella Fitzgerald. Ellen’s vocal style has also been influenced by country and pop singers such as Jessica Andrews, Lee Ann Womack and Norah Jones.
During high school, Ellen received a score of superior for her performance of ‘I Love All Graceful Things’ in the county school system’s Solo and Ensemble competition; played one of the singing nuns in a local production of The Sound of Music; and was her school’s recipient of The Florida Holocaust Museum’s Anne Frank Humanitarian Award in 2003.
This summer Ellen was fortunate enough to record in the studio with up-and-coming recording engineer/producer Keith Henderson and legendary music great, Bruce Swedien (Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Vaughan).
When Ellen is not singing or taking classes, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to great music and watching old movies.
