My name is Alexander M. Ambrozaitis Sr. I'am originaly from Detroit, Michigan. I now make my home in San Antonio, Texas. The home of the 4 time NBA World champion SAN ANTONIO SPURS. I'm married to a wonderful woman named Annie and we have 4 really wonderful & talented children. AJ(Christina), Kelly, Lauren, and Amanda Marie. I have been blessed by GOD with 4 beautiful and cool grandchildren, Manuel Mateo, Imari Roo, Brandon and little Gesile.I have also been blessed with 2 awesome parents John & Lenore Ambrozaitis, 2 brothers, Rochester Hills City Councilman Erik G.Ambrozaitis, Ryan R. Ambrozaitis, and 1 Sister Stase A. Wendelyn, who belived, and help me to become the musician I'am today. I was inspired in the latin music by my grandparents Dan & Lenore Arreola. My grandmother Lenore (GOD Bless her) has since passed on but her and my grandfather Daniel taught me alot about s
Spanish/Latin music which later became very helpful. I was told I could play "Mary had a Little Lamb" on a toy piano at the age of 2. I am not sure if that story was true.I performed on guitar, and piano during my high school, and early college days. I became more of a piano, and keyboard player while I was in college.
I guess GOD wanted me back on keyboards. During college I played in a Tex-Mex group called Groupo Azteca with my friends Art Luna, and Angel Ortiz. I was given a keyboard position with the tejano group La Sombra De Chicago in 1986. I then relocated to Corpus Christi, Texas, then back to Detroit where I formed the first EUROPA as a Tejano / Latin group. We released 2 albums. The first one "EUROPA De Detroit" on the Hacienda Record lable, Then "THE NEW AGE" on the Capital EMI Lable. After about 3 to 4 years
the first EUROPA disbanded. I then performed on the Tejano circuit with the following: David Marez, Patsy Torres, Esmeralda, Marcos & Ronnie T, Rudy T. Gonzales, Bandango
Johnny Elizondro Y La Fabrica, and 6 time GRAMMY nodded, JOE POSADA who along with Bass player PETE OJEDA, where the folks who inspired me to get into, enjoy, and love Jazz music. I still perform thru Texas and the U.S. with Mr.Posada when I'm able to.EURÓPA the jazz group was formed at the begining of 2000,
first as a 4 piece group with James Pickens on Bass, Michael Alexander on drums, Virdrick Pettit on lead sax.
We recorded our first CD titled "ONE" at the end of 2001.
EUROPA went through some changes after that. We added
AJ Ambrozaitis (My Son) on 2nd Sax, and keyboards. In 2003
we switched sax players. A best friend of mine Anselmo "Chemo" Leal brought a more modern, smooth, fussionisk sound, playing both alto, and soprano saxes, and percussion. We also started recording our secong CD titled "ELEMENTS" which is waiting to be released. In 2005 we added a very talented singer. Alvin Gertman,
who with his voice, brought a smooth R&B sound. Where ever we performed we brought down the house. It even got us a tour to Europe to perform for our troops at Christmas time.
It was a busy, and awesome time for us.In 2006 we also used the vocal talents of RG Dean, replacing Alvin and in 2008 Anslemo (Chemo) was replaced by a fantastic Sax player by the name of Onel Jimenez.Through the years EUROPA has performed in the United States, and Europe. We have received radio airplay on Smoothjazz.com, on radio stations in the U.S. Canada and Europe. EUROPA has performed with or opened for Chris Botti, Pieces Of A Dream (with our good friend EDDIE BACCUS), Strunz & Farrah, Peter White, Joe Posada, Kyle Turner, Confunksun, Lakeside, Brian Culberson, Michael Linginton, Stacey Knights, and many others. In 2009 EUROPA looks forward to releasing the "ELEMENTS" CD and our 3rd CD yet to be titled, but more than likley will be called "III" (or 3) GOD's Willing.
We look forward to hearing from you, so please send me a message. You can also visit EUROPA at http://www.europajazz.com, http://www.myspace.com/EUROPAjazzcom.
