Anything that lets me live in another world for a while is good. I'm into movies, gaming and reading. I collect funky designer perfumes and like to get "crafty" from time to time. I am really into Halloween and usually spend months preparing costumes and parties, if I'm not actually working at a Haunted House. I like ghost stories, too.
Right now I'm listening to a lot of The Killers and Green Day, but I am usually into metal - Korn, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Metallica, etc. PunkPop is good too - Blink 182, Bowling for Soup, and so on. But I never turn down a good laugh, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I also listen to Weird Al and Dr. Demento.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is probably my favorite movie, but anything dark and gothic is good - The Crow, Strange Days, Interview with the Vampire, The Phantom of the Opera, and so on. I also go for comic book movies (Batman, X-men, etc.) and anything with good action, so long as it's not TOO dumb. A good fantasy will also get my attention (Harry Potter, The Dark Crystal, Labrynth, etc.)
I don't have a lot of time to sit and watch TV, so thank the gods for my TiVo, or I'd never see anything. I never miss an episode of CSI, and I'm still enjoying Smallville. I watch a lot of Good Eats on the food network, and I also record a lot of smart cartoons (Justice League Unlimited, Batman, Invader Zim). The occasional reality show will make its way onto my radar - I do still watch Survivor, though I am a bit ashamed to admit it.
My favorite author is Neil Gaiman, and I read everything of his, but my favorites are The Sandman series and Neverwhere. Beyond him, I read the requisite Harry Potter regimen by J.K. Rowling and I've read the Game of Thrones series all the way through. I've also recently been going through the Outlander series by Diana Gambaldon. And, from time to time, I re-read an old favorite from my childhood, such as The Secret of NIMH.
My brother said it first, and I agree - our mom is an amazing woman. She works hard every day to get by and make life better for everyone around her. She's selfless and giving and thoughtful, and totally worth anyone's admiration.
