I am here for Networking

About Me

I have been writing for nearly a decade and a half. I started with different film magazines like Femme Fatales and Film Ex, and then moved into fiction. I have had more than 80 short stories published in various print and electronic publications. I contribute regularly to such magazines as The Phantom of the Movies' VideoScope Magazine, Scary Monsters Magazine, Blood Moon Rising, Werewolf Magazine and The Horror Writer. I contribute movie reviews, related articles and interviews. I have had the honor of interviewing such filmmakers as Joe (The Howling, Gremlins) Dante, Jeff (Blue Sunshine, Just Before Dawn) Lieberman, Ted V. (Astro-Zombies, The Corpse Grinders) Mikels, Fred Olen (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Bikini Drive-in) Ray, John (Night of the Living Dead, Midnight) Russo and Jim (Return of the Swamp Thing, Chopping Mall) Wynorski. I have also interviewed authors Gary (The Howling series) Brandner and Richard (Beast House trilogy) Laymon and actresses Belinda (Piranha, The Howling) Balaski, Dee Wallace (The Howling, E.T.), Michelle (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Dinosaur Island) Bauer, Lynn (The Crazies, They Came From Within) Lowry, Kelli (Night of the Comet, Chopping Mall) Maroney, Felissa (Sleepaway Camp) Rose and Brinke (Slumber Party Massacre, Nightmare Sisters) Stevens. (Brinke Stevens helped me score my first professional writing assignment and I will always be indebted to her.)As for my fiction, the first collection of my short stories, 'A Place of Dreams and Nightmares', was released in December of 2004. It is a mix of horror, sci-fi, fantasy and romance. I am proud of the book because it is a nice mix of genres, but it is hard to find. Dream Passage Publishing went under so other than the copies I drag to shows, I am not sure where else you can find it. (I would like to re-release it some day.) My chapbook 'The Drive-in that Dripped Blood' appeared in summer of 2006. The title pretty much tells all. It is my homage to the great slasher movies I grew up watching in the '80s. It is available from all the major online book sellers and can be ordered through most bookstores. 2006 also saw the release of my all horror short story collection '13 Frights'. It is a collection of thirteen previously published horror stories. So far it is my most popular book. Like 'Drive-in...', it is available everywhere. Early '07 saw the release of my chapbook 'The Clinic' through Sapphire Publishing. It is available directly from the publisher. In July of 2007 my first full length novel, 'Bijou of the Dead', was released. Again, this is exactly what you think it is- zombies attacking an old, flea pit movie theater. 'Bijou' is available for purchase on Amazon.com and many other online book stores, and can be ordered through many chain book stores. I am also thrilled to announce that I sold another book, 'The Santa Thing', which will be available from Stonegarden Publishing. There is no release date yet, but I am proud to have found a home with a publisher for this disturbing little tale.Check out my website www.robertfreese.com

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

As for people who are no longer with us, I would have loved to have met author Robert Bloch, who wrote PSYCHO, and drive-in movie director Al Adamson, who directed Satan's Sadits and Dracula vs. Frankenstein. As for people who are still with us, I would like to meet Jack Hill and pick his brain about stuff like Switchblade Sisters and The Big Doll House. Writer/director Fred (Night of the Creeps) Dekker would be cool and actor James Lorenz, who was so funny in Street Trash and Frankenhooker. (Whatever happened to that guy?) I'd also like to meet Joe Bob Briggs.
