About Me

In the tradition of African culture Ashe`means to manifest into being. To claim a thing is so; and so it is.aSHe', with Co-hosts Moniifa Maht and Shawn Sherri is a radio and Internet based talk show whose purpose is to inspire and empower audiences through entertainment. It’s much more than an arts and entertainment talk show. aSHe` explores a wide range of issues affecting urban communities and the country at large from a solution-oriented perspective. aSHe’s engaging format features two dynamic women – the talented duo, Moniifa Mah’t and Shawn Sherri, formerly high school buddies – as they explore current events, spicy topics, and stimulating entertainment. The ladies of aSHe` electrify with their unique chemistry, captivating interviews, and often-hysterical banter that leaves audiences with the guilty pleasure that one has just eavesdropped on a private conversation of two girlfriends at play. Take one listen and you’ll agree; contagious is the word that best describes aSHe`.The Ladies of aSHe` comprise the talented duo – co-hosts, Moniifa Mah`t and Shawn Sherri. aSHe` is the brainchild of Moniifa, following her seven year stint in early 1990’s as Senior Producer of the GBE (Imhotep Gary Byrd’s Global Black Experience), one of the most popular black radio talk shows in New York City during the 1980’s and 1990’s. Shawn Sherri Seymour, a radio professional in her own right, worked as a reporter for WBAI Pacifica Network as well as a guest DJ for Jammin 105 (now Power 105). The opinionated, charismatic, and just plain funny “sistas in spirit” grew up in Hempstead, Long Island and later moved to Harlem, New York. Both Moniifa and Shawn share a background in the performing arts: having between them performed on television, movies, off-Broadway musicals, and comedy improvisation.aSHe` Live occurs when the Ladies of aSHe` host live events throughout New York City and abroad. Whether it’s panel discussions, seminars, book parties, soirees, cultural events, talent shows or live broadcast tapings - the ladies of aSHe` pack a double punch with their on special spin of talk and humor, covering the hottest topics in social, cultural, political and economic spectrum facing urban communities and the country at large featuring special guests and surprises. Check us out. You’ll see.aSHe`guests have included:Lisa Gaye Hamilton, Dr. Harriet Cole, Kevin Powell, Obba Baba Tunde, Taimak, James “D Train” Williams,, Camille Yarborough, Congressman Charles Baron, Bill McCreary
