About Me

Some things are just meant to be. Richmond’s Funk pioneer DJ Troy believed that it was the right time when he heard from DJ Pari that he would move his Soulpower organization from Germany to Virginia. Over the years, Troy had already laid a serious Funk foundation in Richmond. But now that his fellow Scorpio Brother Marty Key had moved to NYC, Pari’s relocating offered the perfect opportunity to team up and start a new, new type of thing! What is Soulpower? Probably one of the world’s most successful Soul and Funk parties, hosted anywhere from London to Paris to Berlin to Tokyo. And now Richmond. Why, out of all places? "I live here now", says Pari, "and you got to do something at your home base!" Troy agrees: "What many people don’t know is that Virginia has a serious history of Funk artists cutting amazing records between 1965 and 1975." Soulpower RVA is the extension to the good, ole days ... you better believe it! If you dig oldschool Funk, Soul and Jazz, anything that moves and grooves and is "for real", then this is the party you will be looking forward to every month.
