About Me
The Charlotte NSAI workshop is a very busy group. We meet every second Tuesday at The Well, 220 Main Street, in Pineville, NC at 7PM. The first half of each meeting is dedicated to announcements and a songwriting, music or music business lesson or guest speaker. After a short break we present our latest songs to each other in an effort to help each other improve and grow.
Our members bring several genre of music to the group. I guess we could say that Country, Americana and Folk is the meat and potatoes and Pop, Rock, Blues etc. are the spice.
From time to time we bring in professional songwriters and instructors to teach our group about the craft and business of songwriting and/or performance. Some of the seminars we have had in the past have been led by Livingston Taylor, Steve Seskin, Byron Hill, Georgia Middleman, Jai Josefs, John Ford Coley, Jerry and Gracie Vandiver, Pat and Pete Luboff, Jason Blume, Kim McLean, Marc-Alan Barnette Gary Talley, Paul Reisler, Skip Black, Chuck Allen Floyd and many others.
We regularly put on Nashville-style songwriters rounds at festivals, coffee shops, restaurants, bookstores etc. under the umbrella of "The Unsung Songwriters" which is made up a rotating group of NSAI members and friends.
Spin-offs from the members of NSAI Charlotte include SongFinishers cowriting group, CharlotteIndieRadio.com, CharlotteMusician.com, The Naked Truth TV Show, First Fridays in York Songwriters Showcase, The Carolina Songwriters Show.
Several of our members have used this Charlotte workshop as a stepping stone to moving to Nashville and pursuing a professional career in songwriting. So far three of our members have become staff writers and several more have gotten single song contracts.
Guests are always welcome at our meetings. Visit www.NSAICharlotte.com for full details.
