Paul Wassif is a lucky man........
Paul started playing guitar when he was 12, learning from a classical teacher, till someone played him a Rory Gallagher record. Then punk introduced the notion you never needed to learn how to play in the first place.
Stumbling through bands including those paragons of virtue 'The London Cowboys', which introduced him, amongst many things, to Jerry Nolan. Paul played briefly with the Dead Presidents, which is worth a mention as it was with them, in a bar on First Ave, NY, that Nolan, Thunders and Sylvain from the NY Dolls played together for what was possibly the last time.
Here you can start to recognise luck...Paul's still alive....has been trying to learn ever since. Andrea Oliver coaxed him back onto a stage....Eric Clapton loaned him a Martin and taught him his version of Robert Johnsons' "Kindhearted Woman", amongst many other things. Bert Jansch has used him on his last two studio albums...occasionally he'll play live with Bert, if it ain't too far from home. Yeah....it's got to be luck...

"Wassif adds a country tinge to the music, which remains as sweet as ever as their first number ignores vocals and revels instead in these guitarists' undiluted skill..." MusicOHM Gig Review
