A'KIA is a 21 yr old self-proclaimed Rapper/Songwriter from Baltimore Maryland, who expresses versatility as well as wordplay in her music. She shows a range of versatility through her flow, how she forms and constructs her songs & hooks as well as her stage presence. A’KIA’s style of writing is inspired by Lil Wayne and Jay-Z's crafts of freestyling in the head. No pad no paper just flowing with music. Shocking the audience every time is one of A'KIA's craftiness. Staff of the 2009 New Jersey Music Conference, which featured G-Unit, Def-Jam, Universal, and Sony have all agreed; " A'KIA not only shocks us, but she shocks the world with her grimy at times witty rhymes. She separates herself from other female Rappers in the game."
Coming up with her own style and originality took time for A'KIA. She gives significant credit to Producer Rube-Rice of 2nyce Entertainment for aiding in artist development and helping her to perfect her craft. 2 Nyce Ent. Studios was where A'KIA was able to find herself, producing songs like "Industry Slave", "If Ur Girl Only Knew", and the street anthem "Kaos". A'KIA states, working with a true team is inspiring. There's so much work put into it. We have as many as nine projects which many never get out.†A’KIA’s work ethics are aggressive. She believes that taking on as much as possible only forces you to challenge yourself.
In 2009, A'KIA started her own record-label Tru3 Star Ent, in which she is the C.E.O; with Nalij C.O.O, and business partner Blocks Unlitd. This is a independent company, which believes in developing artist as well as having creativity in what they do. AKIA's entrepreneur skills go well beyond a drawing board, she also goes to Morgan State University where she is studying Business Administration. She feels that fully understanding the business side to music is extremely important toward building success. Currently A’KIA is pushing her mixtape “Thru The Wire.†She is set to drop her Debut Album at the end of February 2010. She will also partake in a mini-tour across the country.
