Influences: In 2004 songwriters Mike Corbett and J Frollins began collaborating. Some years later, joined by longtime friend and fellow songwriter Mike Curtis, the trio established themselves as Beats & Sources...
A playful assimilation of influences ranging from Stravinsky and System of a Down to Harry Chapin and Regina Spektor. Performing with a Tenacious D-esque dynamic, the three execute mercurial strains of quirk-riddled, acoustic antifolk. Their material is often urgent and persistent, each song begging for multiple listens like a desperate friend who eventually returns the favor.
An exercise in freedom and an experiment in range, Beats & Sources’ rock intentions are carried out with an acoustic sophistication. They are fascinated by the creative process, choosing to sic their imaginations on folk rock.
The band plays and writes for the sake of such, drawing inspiration from literature, art and humour.
They also know exactly how the world is going to end...
