ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT, MARY LYNN DOBSON: Mary Lynn has worked in many facets of the theatre as a director, actor and playwright. As a playwright, Mary Lynn was honored at the University of Northern Kentucky, along with renown playwright, Romulus Linney, as a winner of the Y.E.S. New Play Festival for her play, Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van. Since then, Two on the Aisle received its professional premiere at the Henlopen Theatre Project with a production that starred Tony nominated actor, Gordon Joseph Weiss. She was invited to return to work at NKU when another of her works, Dracula, the Untold Story, received its professional debut in a sold out run. She has also penned the family comedy, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, which is published by Dramatic Publishing. Robin Hood is currently being performed throughout the US, and has had productions mounted in the UK, Canada, Mexico and Australia, making her one of Dramatic Publishing's fastest selling and most produced playwrights. Mary Lynn’s directorial credits include productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, She Loves Me, Sylvia, Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van (Winner-Y.E.S. New Play Festival), My Fair Lady, Rounding Third, Urinetown, the Musical, Once Upon a Mattress (14 Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Award nominations including Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Production of a Musical), The Pillowman and coming this summer, the Odd Couple. In her spare time, Mary Lynn enjoys whining, collecting fuzz from the lint trap of her dryer and driving her husband into financial ruin. Easily amused, she can have a party with a paper bag and is fascinated by small shiny objects.
