MyGen Profile Generator Gazed and confused is a new music night in Newcastle inspired by the emergence of new shoegaze bands which the musical press has dubbed Nu-gaze. Casual or bedtime admirers of shoegaze often underestimate the sheer sonic boom levels of sound which it can achieve when played at a volume Spinal Tap might call ‘eleven’. At this intensity every electronic wave becomes apparent and the air seems heavy as your every pore fills with sound. Rapid drumbeats will take over your body and your eyes will sink to floor level as your brain, overloaded with musical frequencies, shies away from any excess visual stimulation. This wall of sound effect is the basis of the Gazed and Confused musical policy. Shoegaze/Nu-gaze itself is a fairly narrow categorisation in the broad world of music that can achieve such rapturous effects. Gazed and Confused will span many genres with a roughly 50/50 mix of old and new in search of the most exciting, aesthetic and dance inspiring wall of sound tracks for your enjoyment. We will explore nu-gaze, shoegaze, indie roots from the 80’s and 90’s, modern indie, electro-pop, baggy, post punk, new wave, 90’s rave, techno and ambient music. No one is safe… it will find you!
