The Hylander

God spoke liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it.

About Me

My name is SGT Hyland (or "Trent Korey!" if you're my mom and I'm in big trouble and 12-years-old). I am in the Army National Guard (currently active), and FINALLY in the Washington, DC area. I love my life right now, having met the most amazing girl ever! (I mean really, any girl who can make me smile on the night I find out I'm not going to be able to watch the Buckeyes beat Michigan's ass has to be amazing.) Seriously, I wouldn't trade where I'm at right now for any other life in the world. I LOVE the Buckeyes, as you might notice.
Graduated from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio with two bachelor's degrees--one in Sports Studies-Sports Management and one in Business Administration-Management Information Systems.
Anyone who will be in the DC area sometime during the next year or so, feel free to look me up, and I'll buy the first round - look for the group of guys, sitting at the bar, with the clean-cut look, singing loudly with the jukebox.
My brother and sister-in-law recently gave birth (well, I guess technically only my sister-in-law gave birth, but that's neither here nor there) to my first niece, Olivia Paige Hyland (or "Olie" as I call her, from the runt on the movie Hoosiers), and she is the most beautiful thing in the world. Seriously, she is, we have a certificate stating so... A notarized one... With an eagle and fancy olde English writing on it.
I have become a little bit addicted to Myspace. I like it though because I've found alot of friends on here that I haven't seen or talked to in quite some time, AND I OWE IT ALL TO TOM AND MYSPACE!!! (Said in loud commercial voice, with 2 thumbs up)

My Interests

I am extremely passionate about Ohio State Football and Duke Basketball (I still have my Bobby Hurley jersey from 1992). I am also a really big fan of the Cincinnati Reds, but not quite to the extreme of the first two. I also enjoy running, basketball, rollerblading, weight training, computers, Corona, food, cooking/grilling (I'm a self-proclaimed "Grilling Guru"), music, & video games- not in that order.
GINNCREDIBLE!!!! TEDDY GINN = TD!

I'd like to meet:

Jesus Christ; my late G-pa Hyland, one last time; Lance Armstrong (for what he's done off-the-bike as well as on), Michael Jordan, and Muhammed Ali- three of the greatest athletes ever; Johnny Cash- wish I had become more-of-a-fan before he died; the late comedians Richard Pryor & Mitch Hedberg, 2 very contrasting types of humor, and my 2 favorite ones ever; Frank Sinatra- an original pimp; Jim Tressel & Mike Krzyzewski (that's spelled right, trust me), 2 greatest coaches EVER of the 2 greatest teams EVER; & last but not least, Robocop- the only COOL cop I've ever seen, and he drives a Ford Taurus.

Music:

Recently discovered Ben Harper (one of his songs-"Blessed to be a Witness"-really opened my eyes); OAR (best band ever); Sinatra; Johnny Cash; Marc Broussard; Jonny Lang; Big & Rich; Keith Urban; Jack Johnson; Chesney; Ludacris; Kanye; Aerosmith; Metallica; Guns-n-Roses; various other rap/hip-hop, rock, punk, etc.

Movies:

Hoosiers; Saving Private Ryan; Black Hawk Down; Band of Brothers; The Longest Day; Full Metal Jacket; Forrest Gump; O Brother Where Art Thou; Star Wars; Lord of the Rings; Rocky (When I was 5-years-old I wanted to change my middle name to Rocky); Tommy Boy; Major League; Super Troopers; Napoleon Dynamite; & Gunner's Palace (documentary on the war in Iraq).

Television:

Been watching So You Think You Can Dance lately for some reason, DON'T ASK ME. Also really like the new shows Lucky Louie (very vulgar but VERY funny) and Dane Cook's Tourgasm on HBO. I will generally like any show that can make me laugh, and by saying that I mean a show that I can relate to and not necessarily a show that "most people think" or "everybody thinks" is funny--I get annoyed when I say that I never really got into Seinfeld and somebody gets excited and says "how in the world do you not love Seinfeld?!" Anyway, also a fan of the following: Sportscenter (I will be on that show one day); Grey's Anatomy; Pardon The Interruption; Friends; Viva La Bam; The Family Guy; & The Amazing Race

Books:

The Holy Bible; Its Not About the Bike - Lance Armstrong; The Rock Says - The Rock

Heroes:

My late grandfather ("G-pa") and my father ("Old Man" or "Dad-O", my best friend), the two greatest men I have ever known or heard of.
