About Me

J. Malik Weldon is an accomplished author, award-winning poet and Holy Hip-Hop artist. Originally from upstate New York, Mr. Weldon spent the majority of his life in the coastal community of Savannah, Georgia, where the bohemian atmosphere began to develop this budding talent. With over a decade of success as a songwriter, actor, playwright, director and entrepreneur under his belt, this multifaceted prodigy considers his greatest achievements to be in the ministry. In April of 2006, Mr. Weldon was licensed as a Minister of Evangelism and Outreach at New Life International Family Church in Decatur, Georgia.Intertwined is J. Malik Weldon’s first collection of poetry and his first published book. He considers it to be an evangelistic tool that chronicles his own journey from the frivolity of adolescence to true maturity in Christ.True to his evangelistic calling, J. Malik has spent the past year organizing, promoting and performing in the IllumiNations Spoken Word Series, in which he and his WordPlay Productions partners present music and poetry strategically designed to bring the listener back to (and more mature in) God.J. Malik has since returned to his love of music, and now attempts to test the waters with his upcoming album, Bible and a Bullhorn (scheduled for a 2009 release). The project will be a WordPlay Production and will feature many of the singers, poets, rappers and musicians from the group's shows.[LOVEMYFLASH]

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.lulu.com/367778
Band Members: Me and whoever I'm with at the moment of inspiration.Truthfully the Holy Ghost gives me the words and I repeat it.Plus my altar egos: J-Dot, Young Cyrano, J. Weezy, Minister Weldon.
Influences: Too many to name. The first records I ever had were the Jackson Five and Kermit the Frog. I played them to death. The first cassettes I can truly say "I let my tape rock til my tape popped" would be The Boys, Kwame, and Paula Abdul (I was all over the place). First CD I had was Snoop's first one the second it came out (Midnight Madness at Blockbuster Music). The first album I couldn't stop rocking in salvation was Canton Jones: The Password. From Jewel to Jaguar Wright, from Jay-Z to J. Moss, from Eminem to Mary Mary, from T.I. to Tye Tribbett, music has been the driving force of my life. So I thank God and I thank music for making me who I am.
Sounds Like: Something new.
Record Label: Coming Soon!
