Axis Historical
Axis was formed in the eve of 2003 by Steven Blackwell and Jason Doherty, with the single purpose of creating a project with meaning, motivation and endurance. A musical monolith to carry the voice of those dissatisfied with the world around them and the contrived vices of mankinds existence. As the project got underway, new members were added to fill in the final pieces. Hand chosen for their drive and ambition. And just as each line of the axis originates from a different path than the next, each member is forged from different backgrounds. Allowing the music to incorporate unique blends of synth pop-industrial-punk-noise-fodder and gothic, into one massive project. Over the past few years Axis has gained more fans through playing shows in their home town of Tulsa other areas of the midwest. Pittersplatter, God in a Machine, Secret Post, Oblyvaeon and Lillum are a few of the local bands that Axis has performed with . They have opened for visiting larger acts such as Dismantled, Ego Likeness, Attrition, High Blue Star, Psyclon 9, Armageddon Dildos, Inertia, God Module, Apocalypse Theatre, Mercury Mad, and Harsh Reality. They have done remixes for Cyanotic and Hatred Hurt Itself. Axis' upcoming shows include High Blue Star and Attrition for a second time in July and in August with Beyond Hope Gravity Euphonic Haujobb and Mankind is Obsolete.

Influences: Each member of Axis brings a seperate background of influences to the project. Some are based in gothic and nu-industrial, while others are more geared to punk and coldwave bands. Because of this diversity from member to member, Axis is able to obtain a unique blend of each genre into the music. Creating familiar industrial/noise feel with a special twist of untreaded territories.
Sounds Like: Axis prefers to keep itself free of comparison to other bands. We do not attempt to mimic others out of pure respect for what they have accomplished on their own. If you are wanting a fusion of synth-pop-coldwave-industrial-fodder-noise and gothic revival, then Axis is exactly that. A myriad of genres wrapped into a band, whose style shifts from song to song.
