Jono Apps

Jonathan Apps is a 21 year old Trumpet and Flugelhorn player from Sydney Australia. In December 2007 he graduated from the Australian National University, Canberra School of Music, where he majored in performance, jazz trumpet, under the expert tuition of Miroslav Bukovsky. He is versatile and enjoys playing in many different styles and band settings including commercial music, big band, bebop, swing, funk, free jazz.He started playing the Tenor Horn at the age of 8, and a year later switched to the Cornet. He got his first Trumpet at the age of 10. His first interest was classical music, but in high school got involved in Big Band playing.Jonathan has been lucky enough to perform with many great musicians, including James Morrison, Bob Mintzer and the ANU Big Band, and has been on the recordings of Niels Rosendahl, Jenna Cave, and many other various recordings.His favourite gigs have been Bobby Shew, UMO Jazz Orchestra, Jens Winther European Quintet, Herbie Hancock, Ten Part Invention, Wanderlust, ESP, Pharoah Sanders, Tomas Stanko, Jazz Groove Mothership Orchestra.Jonathan currently lives in Helsinki, Finland with his girlfriend Jenna. The friends he has made so far are all great people. He is enjoying the lifestyle and work, and is keen on connecting with some musicians to play with. Also his family in Finland are marvellous, they are so caring and loving and generous!!!
