my friends and i decided to create this myspace to tell the story of a wonderful friend and his wife who provide clean shelter, good food, great affection,& top notch veterinary treatment to all kinds of dogs, even a handful of horses and cats too.
we're hoping that through this page we can get them the help that they would never ask for on their own. this awesome couple has rescued and rehabilitated countless animals, of all misfortunate and sometimes horrific backgrounds. many of the animals they've rescued have been abused, mistreated, abandoned, and even shot. even after recommendations to have some dogs put to sleep, they have struggled through astronomical veterinary bills to bring dogs back to good health and give them a second chance at a happy life.
and a happy life these dogs do have! they've got a great place in the country outskirts of memphis, tn., where around 50 of the older and injured (some with 3 legs) live inside their beautiful, spacious, and CLEAN home!
the other 65 or so dogs have large, clean kennels in the shade, each with their own insulated dog house! while all their areas are tended to and they're fed and watered, the outdoor kennels are all built with a huge public area in the middle, where all the dogs come out and play EVERY DAY, where each and every dog receives love and attention.
for a better understanding of just how much they love and care for animals, know that if they happen to pass a dog on the highway that's been killed, they bring her home, dig her a grave and give her a headstone. THIS INCREDIBLY REMARKABLE COUPLE RECIEVES NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND ENJOYS NO TAX BREAKS.
my girlfriend, friends and i volunteer to help out with various work, but they need more than just physical help.
they pay for EVERYTHING these animals need out of their own pockets, which are obviously stretched thin. getting animals adopted to good homes is a tough job, and it's quite obviously VERY EXPENSIVE to keep all of these animals healthy, which they would sacrifice their own meals to be sure of.
UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS GOING TO COME DOWN TO THAT EVENTUALLY. ALTHOUGH IT'S A SANCTUARY FOR THE ANIMALS THAT HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT HERE, THIS IS *NOT* A SANCTUARY FOR THE MAN AND HIS FAMILY THAT WORK HARD ALL DAY LONG FROM 5 AM TO 11PM AND ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. IT'S BECOMING TOO MUCH OF A BURDEN. IRRESPONSIBLE (FOR A NICE TERM) PEOPLE DUMP DOGS ALL THE TIME OUT THERE IN THE COUNTRY, AND THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE DON'T TURN THEM AWAY.
WE NEED HELP. PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING ONE OF OUR WONDERFUL ANIMALS, VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME OR THOUGHTS, OR MAKE A DONATION HOWEVER SMALL TO OUR VET BILL. EVERYTHING HELPS! AND AS IN EVERY SITUATION WHEN SOMEONE'S IN NEED, NEVER ASSUME SOMEONE ELSE WILL DO IT!
