About Me
I was born in Detroit, but raised in Highland Park (Highland Paaa-aark!). ..I grew up in church and sang my first solo at age 3. I was raised in a family that is completely musical. Everyone sings and/or plays an instrument. I wrote my first song when I was probably around 5 or 6 years old. I displayed a particular interest in classical and jazz instrumental music as a child, composing my own music and COMPELLING my mother to get me lessons by age 7. One day I heard ELLA FITZGERALD SING and I was BLOWN AWAY!...one taste of THAT GREAT MUSICAL GIANT and I couldn't resist! I couldn't help but to incorporate some of that JAZZY style into my vocals, as well. At last count, I have written well over 80 songs. I have written music in basically every genre, except maybe metallic rock! (LOL). My personal favorite singing styles are Jazz, Pop and R&B--Christian, of course. The sample song in my profile exhibits but one of my musical styles. I have both a soft jazzy tone and a strong, power-ballad capability, incorporating the styles of everyone from Arethra, to Patti to Whitney to Denise Williams, to Yolanda Adams to Ella Fitzgerald to Chaka Khan to Karen Clark Sheard, love me some Vanessa Bell, just so many others... (did I miss any of the greats?...add them in, too!) Some people describe me as having the clear, smooth, jazzy and strong vocal style of a trumpet playing...at least that's what they said.A few credits: I have performed and worked with many artists including Patti LaBelle, Marvin L. Winans, Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Vanessa Bell, Ron Winans, Derrick Starks, Sylvia Moy, Ortheia Barnes, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Three Mo Tenors, Richard Smallwood, Donald Lawrence...to name a few. My latest offering can be heard on the grammy-nominated Perfected Praise CD entitled "FRIENDS" where I sing the title track, A DUET with MARVIN L. WINANS, himself.With all humility, let me say that my LOVING, AWESOME God has afforded me the opportunity, with the talent HE has given me to travel to various parts of the world to minister in song (GLORY TO GOD!!!!), including Lagos & Benin City Nigeria, London, England and Amsterdam, Holland, in addition to traveling across the USA.I have a desire, through my ministry, to reach out to children, to inspire them to become more than what they could settle for, to reach farther than what they can touch right now and to know that through the wisdom of God and love of God, they can achieve many great things. They can reach beyond the stars and yet, enjoy their everyday, day-to-day lives being secure, happy and comfortable with everything in between! JESUS' LOVE IS REAL LOVE! HE IS AN AWESOME GOD!I have been a dedicated, hard-working member of Perfecting Church in Detroit, Mi. since the beginning of 1993.THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN KNOW ABOUT ME IS... I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE JESUS! I am FULLY dedicated to HIM and HIS WORK! I LOOOOVE HIS PRESENCE! WHEW! My life HAPPILY belongs to Him. I envy no one, but MY WISH FOR EVERYONE IS THAT THEY WOULD COME TO KNOW THE JESUS I LOVE SO MUCH!!!! HE HAS SAVED ME IN EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE--I MEAN EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE!
