I'm a singer/songwriter living in Guildford in the South of England. I write and record my own songs accompanied by guitar and bass, and featuring percussion and/or drum loops and midi keys. Although I'm presenting myself as a solo artist the track "Watching My TV" also features guitar finger picking by Lee Clift.
I started playing bass in rock bands at school in Athens, Greece. Living in Leeds in the early 90s, I performed with "The Johnsons" fronted by singer Mark Kennedy (currently a popular Manchester based artist), harmonica player John Burr, guitarists James Cooper and Takis Stathatos, and drummer Jon Whitfield. Arriving here in 1996, I've played bass with guitarist Chris Pearce (sessions with Pete Thomas), drummer John Roberts (sessions with the Blockheads), keyboardist Amanda Brown and singer Justine Allen (formerly with the house band from the 90s channel 5 show "The Mag"). I currently perform in the Queen tribute act "The Queens" and stand in for local bands whenever the need arises. I also teach bass (http://www.jamesstathatos.com).
In 2007 I trained as a music teacher qualifying with a PGCE in Music. During training I enjoyed singing and playing guitar in front of a class and gradually started writing my own songs.
