Shaun MacLean

I am mainly a self taught musician, Took up guitar when I was 18, lived in Australia for 4 years where I took lessons for 1 year with a well known Jazz Musician called Carl Orr. I was inspired by the power of live concerts & the way it brought people of any stereotype together. I believe the power of music is food for the soul. When there is nothing more to say there is always melody & groove. Listen to your heart as it grooves all of the time, just add melody & you have a song, add some poetry/lyrics & people will hopefully understand the meaning.My interest in music led me to the NZ Rockshop group (Musical Instrument Retailers) where I started & managed Botany Rockshop & later New Plymouth Rockshop which led me to get involved with the New Plymouth singer songwriters - the talent in Taranaki was amazing so we set up "One wave Records" to aim to promote the talent.We built a studio & recorded "The best of Singer songwriters New Plymouth Vol 1" then showcased them at the Festival of lights to great success. This was my first real professional venture into recording/mastering and led me to record and co produce "The Fading Light Album" with Duan Kaka (Duanside) a well known and talented local. It was great fun working & playing guitar on his tunes.I then headed to manage Wellington Rockshop and was inspired by the vibe Wellington had in a musical sense. There is so much great talent there & I got to meet some very famous Kiwis and overseas artists. I decided to leave Wellington to come back to Auckland & persue my own musical taste & styles and reform my band "Montage" a Rock Jazz fusion Band. I am currently studying for my NZ certificate in Mechanical engineering, writing new songs & performing gigs with my band.The song idea's above are only demo's & are works in progress.
