View lois akin's EPK well i'm one of the ones born and raised here in Nashville, Tennessee and you just don't run into us that often. I am from a long line of singer songwriters and you'd never have guessed that. i was in a rock band and a punk rock band for years as the lead woman and handled my guitar like a battle ax, which i still have the tendancy to beat the holy crap out of. anyhoooo, i've got a huge fan base, my husband being the biggest and most influencial fan i have ever encountered in my whole entire life, as well as two daughters, one hand me down dog, and one cat that isn't around unless there's food at the barn. my biggest fan of all time, of course that husband of mine whom is home from Iraq right now, which means that i did also have an international fan base!!

************************************************************ ************************************************************ ******** i am influenced by the country outside my window, by the rolling hills of tennessee, by irish whiskey and hazelnut coffee, and the dirt under my nails these are all big influences in my life right now. My first influence was momma Icie Berg. let's see, oh yeah, my sister Matraca Berg (duh) she's so famous and I am so not!! I am influenced by my husband my baby girls, my hand me down dog, and ferrell cat all not necessarily in that order. i love johnny cash i believe the feeling is mutual. i rock out to gretchen wilson because we are both redneck girls though i have not one single tattoo. i'm also into lucinda williams,arlo gutherie, patti smith, sheryl crow, neil young, and ben and jerry's chunky monkey at midnight in the humidity of tennesse. i really enjoy the endless sounds of squeeling little girls that echo through this little cabin. i'm influenced by the wind and the songs of the bluebirds here in the middle of nowhere and these new friends that i found on my brother's Nitty Gritty Dirt Band website. Check them out you will absolutely love them not to mention they have me right up there on the top right next to that famous sister of mine!! Got to love that!! Good for the spirit and great for the ego of mine which seems to be getting bigger with more and more fun friends online!!************************************************
