Luke A. Murcott is a Sheffield-based singer, songwriter and 12-string guitar player. His songs are influenced by the likes of Nick Cave, Tindersticks, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits. In 2007, Luke recorded his solo acoustic debut album "When The Night Is Over", and now follows this up with his second record - the dark and uncompromising "Whiskey and a Woman Like You". On this album, Luke further develops his songwriting skills and delves deeper into the themes of broken hearts, jealousy, heavy drinkers, empty pubs and midnight musings. All this is delivered in Luke's rumbling, bottomless bass-baritone croon backed by his rich 12-string playing.
The material ranges from the bluesy title track to the hushed balladry of "In Moonlight", the solemn "No Forgiveness", the Sinatra-esque "Love Don't Carry Me Home", and the album closes with two of Luke's finest songs to date in the form of the open-hearted "Change Her Mind" and the devastating "So Hard To Let Her Go". Luke is a songwriter who wears his heart on his sleeve, and this haunting collection of songs demonstrates just that.
