About Me

Angry Hank was created in 1997. We are available for Roadhouses, Taverns, Honky Tonks, Juke Joints or even your backyard or basement party. We have a large setlist of original and copy songs ranging from Skynyrd to ZZ Top, or Cream to Montrose. Our original music is our specialty!! You will be able to remember our music from the first time you hear it !!! Now a few words from our founder... Hi I'm Ron, and I would like to give you a brief history of my musical journey. I started playing bass in my High School Jazz band in 1980. I quickly got into Heavy Metal bass players, like Geezer Butler and Steve Harris. I was in a couple of high school bands, which didn't last very long, but had fun. One day, some older dudes were drivin' down the street, pulled up and asked me if I played bass? That was when my serious bass playing started to develop. We called the band "Suicide", and started playin' bars in Denver, Colorado. Suicide became "Assault", and we quickly became one of Denvers' best metal bands, opening for bands like U.F.O. and Accept on the 'Metal Heart Tour'. Shortly after, I left Assault and formed "Defamator", and we were out on the trail supporting huge bands at the time like Paul Di'anno, Metal Church, Overkill, Anthrax and many more that I can't recall. Tommy Skeoch from Tesla discovered us at a club in Denver called Bangles. Soon after, we burned rubber out to Sacramento to record with Dan McClendon R.I.P. (Tesla-5 Man Acoustical Jam). With Tommy eventually producing, Defamator was rapidly moving up in the bay area metal scene. I eventually left Defamator and was replaced by a guy named Jerry Montano (Danzig, Hellya). After that, I quickly formed a shock rock band called N.S.P. with Tommy from Tesla, and we ended up recording two albums on a four track (see N.S.P.). I knew there was more out there for me so I formed a group called UTeris. We went on tour and thought we had made it to the big time, opening tours for (White Zombie, Armored Saint, Exodus, Testament and Death Angel). The name Uteris kind of killed us but we had a great record and following. I then formed Lucky 13. We were produced by the Tesla guys and we continued our musical massacre in Sacramento. I forgot to mention a short comeback with Jud Wheeler (Judhead) we had a band called the Black Widows we covered all of my music. It was then that I had my son, Sye, and quit music for a few years and became a Tattoo artist. I learned that my true roots were southern rock and I began playing Angry Hank. It was a killer group with killer players like Joe Fraulob (Danzig and Deconstruct),and Chris Amore (Skinlab). I have been fortunate to play with my good bro's in this band. One day in an AA meeting, I met and became close friends with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. His inspiration gave me a new mojo to play music again. This new Angry Line up is one of the best bands that I have played in. Rob Pickett on bass, Randy Caserta on Lead guitars, and Steve Ussery on Drums. We have a huge set, mainly originals but we might throw in some Sabbath, Montrose or Black Crowes just to let you know we can really play. Our shows are high energy, southern biker rock and roll!!! Please check us out, there will be more to come !!! We're Angry Hank. (for info on booking) call 760 610 4807
