Getting my talent from my mother, I am mostly self-taught, though I have tutored under other artist'. I have to give Jerry Yarnell a huge thumbs up! He is a fantastic teacher and I've learned a lot from him. I spent much of my childhood sketching, inking, and “tinkering†with different media and techniques. I drew everything; cartoons, comics, trains, planes, trees, flowers, people, buildings, etc… In high school I studied art and also served as art coordinator on school plays, designing and painting backdrops.I moved to Colorado with my parents and graduated school there. I then served a stint in the army, which provided me the opportunity to visit Europe where I met and married my lovely wife Susanne. I then returned to California and spent the past twenty plus years working and raising a family. Though the need to support my growing family put a damper on my artistic aspirations for a while, I still managed to find some time to learn, practice and create. With My children grown and starting families of their own now, my wife Susanne and I have recently made north Texas, with its vast, beautiful, and often dramatic landscape, our home.Though I've worked with other media, my preference now is oil. I spend at least twenty five to thirty five hours a week painting, sketching and working to improve on my craft. I continually strive towards perfecting my own unique style. My approach is to take reality and blend it with my own vision with the hope of expressing the beauty I see. I tend toward vivid and vibrant colors in my images which have begun to develop a following and has led to privately commissioned works.
