Corey B. King

About Me

Corey B. King was born on September 21, 1976, in a rural town in North Carolina known as Faison. His singing career began at age four in the gospel choir at Goshen Disciples Church, where he sang his first solo, “I Know the Lord Will Fix It.” Corey was so short and small in stature, that he had to stand in a chair to be seen over the pulpit. In middle and high school, Corey performed with the school chorus, where he competed in the All County Chorus singing lead tenor for four years in a row. In high school, Corey and his chorus performed for the local NBC affiliate show “Carolina in the Morning.”Upon reaching college, Corey abandoned singing for a more “practical” lifestyle, and major in English Education to pursue a career in teaching. In the summer of 2007 after reading a self-help book by Bishop T.D. Jakes, Corey decided to travel to New York to record a demo of the song, “What If I Told You”, with songwriter, Mike G, and the decision to begin a career in music was born.In August 2007, just one month after recording his demo, Corey was approached by Song Factory Productions to provide vocals for the song, “That’s When I’ll Know” for the independent film “The Utopian Society,” which was released by Polychrome, a division of Warner Brothers on January 15, 2008. You can watch the film trailer at www.myspace.com/theutopiansocietymovie or www.theutopiansocietymovie.com. The soundtrack is available online at most retail outlets such as Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Best Buy, Circuit City, FYE Music, and Walmart. The soundtrack is also available on CD Baby and Itunes. It is difficult to classify Corey’s sound. His roots are in Gospel and R&B, but then the Southern twang in his voice makes him a good candidate as a Country artist, while his youthful vigor makes him a good candidate as a Pop artist.Corey’s ultimate goal is to pursue a career in music by securing a recording contract with a major or independent label, and also perform on additional movie soundtracks. Once his recording career is established, Corey wishes to transition into acting, and perform for stage plays, where he can combine acting and singing. To contact Corey, you can email him at [email protected], or via phone at (336) 549-5906, or to listen to his songs, you can access his Myspace page at www.myspace.com/coreybking
